Amelia grew up in Southern California riding and training hunter and jumper show horses. In 1992, she moved to a large cattle ranch and took up the sport of team roping. Amelia began raising dogs to work on the ranch. When one of the dogs did not work out, she remembered an old friend who had been involved in sheepdog trialing and gave it a try. That dog was the genesis of her involvement in the sport.
In 2002, she purchased 14 month old Price and her trialing career began in earnest. They qualified for the 2002 United States Border Collie Handler's Association National Nursery Finals, and, soon became successful on the open trial field as well.
Amelia has won and placed at some of North America's biggest and most prestigious sheepdog trials, including the Meeker Championship, Soldier Hollow Classic, The Bluegrass and the National Finals. In 2005, she was invited to travel with the United States Sheepdog Handler's Team to Tullamore, Ireland to compete in the World Sheepdog Championship. While there she placed 2nd at the long-running Wooler Trial in North England against 55 of Great Britain's best.
In addition to training and trialing stock dogs, Amelia has a successful career in real estate and continues her lifelong involvement in the horse business. Amelia is available for training and advanced lessons, clinics and judging.
